A Few Of Life’s Simple Lessons

I’ve Learned…That when you’re in love, it shows.

I’ve Learned…That being kind is more important than being right.

I’ve Learned…That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.

I’ve Learned…That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I’ve Learned…That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I’ve Learned…That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.

I’ve Learned…That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I’ve Learned…That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I’ve Learned…That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I’ve Learned…That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I’ve Learned…That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I’ve Learned…That there’s nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks.

I’ve Learned…That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I’ve Learned…That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I’ve Learned…That I can’t choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.

Wisdom Of The Ancients: The Soft And The Hard By Lao Tzu

The Tao Te Ching was written in China by Lao Tzu roughly 2,500 years ago at about the same time when Buddha expounded the Dharma in India and Pythagoras taught in Greece. The Tao Te Ching is probably the most influential Chinese book of all times. Its 81 chapters have been translated into English more times than any other Chinese document.

The Tao Te Ching provides the basis for the philosophical school of Taoism, which is an important pillar of Chinese thought. Taoism teaches that there is one undivided truth at the root of all things. It literally means:

  = tao (the way)
  = te (strength/virtue)
  = ching (scripture)

Chapter 78—THE SOFT AND THE HARD

Nothing in the world is softer or weaker than water

Yet nothing is better at overcoming the hard and strong

This is because nothing can replace it

That the weak overcomes the strong

And the soft overcomes the hard

Everybody in the world knows

But cannot put into practice

Therefore sages say:

The one who accepts the humiliation of the state

Is called its master

The one who accepts the misfortune of the state

Becomes king of the world

The truth seems like the opposite…

Maat is the Ancient Egyptian goddess of cosmic  or universal law.  She represents the epitome of truth and justice, and operates solely to restore balance to out-of-balance situations.  She is not interested in who, what or why, rather, she operates on the premise of whether an action is in balance and within the will of the One Most High God.  These laws are a pre-cursor to the Bible’s Ten Commandments.  Moses was an Egyptian (adopted by an Egyptian royal family) and would have been familiar with these principles:

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfishness, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway!

Insights For Daily Living: Life Lessons From The Matrix Trilogy

By Precious Elliott

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

  • Neo (the main character).  His name is an anagram meaning the New One or New Son of Man.
  • Morpheus (Neo’s mentor).  His name means change and he is instrumental in Neo’s resurrection process.
  • Trinity (Neo’s romantic interest).  Her name represents the tri-part being of the Godhead.
  • Seraph (The oracle’s guard and “friend” of Neo).  His name is short for seraphim representing the angels that guard the throne of God.

THE NATURE OF THE MATRIX

The world or matrix was a massive computer program whose purpose was to keep humans blinded and imprisoned in their dream state so that they could not uncover the truth that the world wanted to keep humans as slaves to it.

  • The matrix is a parallel to the world in our own reality.
  • The matrix prompts us to ask ourselves about the purpose of our own reality.
  • What are we here to learn, do and accomplish?

CHOOSING FREEDOM: BEING IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF THE WORLD

Freedom Is Not Free

  • We are fighters bound to pay the price for for the gift of free will.  Freedom to choose is not free.
  • Realize that the process of life is a war between choosing good or evil and we are soldiers.
  • Death may come at any time.  We must ask ourselves what is worth dying for.

What Is The Purpose?

  • People do not care how “it” works, except that it works.
  • But to have true insight, one must understand the purpose of “it”.
  • Why is the true source of power…We must always ask why.

What Is Really Real?

  • Know that there are unseen benevolent and malevolent forces everywhere.
  • Always question what is really real behind each situation.
  • If one is unable to wake up from one’s dream…how will one be able to know the difference between the dream and reality?  What is the real reality?
  • Neo learned that the body cannot live without the mind.  The mind makes the dream world or matrix real.  Therefore, if you are killed in the matrix you are killed in reality.  Is our world on Earth the real world or is the spiritual realm the real world?

The Art of Non-Conformity

When Neo resisted cooperation with the world the punishment was persecution and being “bugged” without his consent.

  • The world wants you to conform to its sets rules.
  • Persecution is the reward for non-conformity.
  • Will you dare to walk to the beat of your own drum?
  • Are you willing to pay the price?

The War Of Good Against Evil Must Be Fought In Your Own Heart And Soul

The sentinel “Smith” was a gatekeeper.  He was also the dark side of Neo’s soul – his shadow self.  The gatekeeper is everyone, yet no one.  He works for the world and will fight to keep mankind blind.  He does not believe in the One or unity in any form.  His purpose is separation—he even refers to himself as we.

  • Do you know your shadow self?
  • What are your own negative traits and how will you overcome them?

Choosing Light or Choosing Darkness

  • One can only show another to the door through to the resurrection but one cannot make another walk through it.
  • Will you take the red pill or blue pill?

THE RESURRECTION PROCESS

To Be Born Again

Neo was “born again” into a new life after he was unplugged from the world or the matrix.  His body had to be restructured and rebuilt.  His mind needed to be renewed.

  • Everything that has a beginning has an end then giving life again to something new.
  • The process of being is an endless cycle of life, death and resurrection.
  • There are no actions without consequence.
  • Every system has a weakness.  Even the Matrix has a weakness.

On Personal Power And Purpose

  • We are all created for a purpose.  We are all here to do what we are here to do.
  • There is no right or wrong.  There is just purpose.
  • KNOW THYSELF was the Oracle’s motto and primary advice to Neo to get him to understand his power and his purpose. Belief is key in living out your personal power and purpose!
  • There are no accidents.  There is no coincidence or chance…only providence and purpose.  One cannot cheat destiny…
  • To free one’s mind, one must let go of fear, doubt and disbelief.
  • Do not try to bend the spoon.  Realize the truth…that there is no spoon.  It is not the spoon that bends.  It is you that bends.  The spoon does not bend…you do.  What is the true reality?
  • There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

Understanding Choice, The Nature Of Reality And Your Destiny

  • Causality or Action/Reaction is the order of the Universe.  Choice is merely an illusion.
  • True sight is when you can see the world without time.
  • However, we can never see beyond the choices we do not understand.
  • How can we trust our intuition?  We have already made our decisions.  The choice is already made.  We are here to understand why we made the choice.  Why is the true source of power…We must always ask why.
  • Our dreams are the keys to understanding our choices.

Onward To Zion – A New Heaven And A New Earth

  • The only way we can reach our collective destiny is together.  If one fails…all have failed.
  • The power of the One extends throughout the Universe all the way back to the Source.
  • There are many doors leading to many places but only one leads to the Source.
  • To reach the Source one needed the key maker. Just as we need Jesus/Buddha/Krishna/Heru/ the cipher or key to reach our Heavenly Father.
  • The door of light led to the Architect of the matrix or the Father of the Universe. The purpose of Architect is to balance the equation….the remainder of an equation that was the anamoly of otherwise mathematical precision.  The anomaly of the mathematical precision is free will or choice.
  • The Oracle was the Mother of the Universe. She seeks to unbalance the equations by supporting diversity in all life forms, multiple dimensions, multiple selves, parallel realities and choice.  She teaches that love is glue that holds all things together.  What truly matters is the connection the word “love” implies not the word itself.
  • The darkness in world/matrix was originally built from light. Yet, the darkness cannot comprehend the light. It was the infusion of light placed in Neo from the machine city that conquered Smith/Separation and ushered in Unity/The New World—Zion into our new reality.
  • Zion was the last human city that is nested in the Earth’s core.  Zion represents the Biblical Israelite city and is used as a metaphor for experiencing the blessings of the New Covenant.

THESE ARE THE LESSONS FROM THE MATRIX!

Insights For Daily Living: Resisting The Spirit of Covetousness

by Precious Elliott

To covet is to feel intense desire to have what belongs to another.  All spiritual truths warns against covetousness.

Our lifelong spiritual lessons include learning to admire what others have while accepting that we do not have to acquire the same and learning to be content with what we have.

In the Bible’s Ten Commandments at Exodus 20:1-17, we are told that “Thou shalt not covet your neighbor.”

The effect of always wanting more is fatigue. (Proverbs 23:4)

An effect of the desire to acquire is debt. (Ecclesiastes 5:11)

An effect of the desire to acquire is worry. (Ecclesiastes 5:12)

An effect of the desire to acquire is conflict. (James 4:1)

An effect of the desire to acquire is dissatisfaction.  (Ecclesiastes 5:10)

Be content. Resist comparing yourself to others (2 Corinthians 10:12)

Be content. Rejoice in what you do have. (Ecclesiastes 5:19)

Be content. Release what you have to help others. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)

Be content. Refocus on what is going to last. (2 Corinthians 4:18)

May your heart be encouraged as you resist the spirit of covetousness.
